For the second year in a row Greg Gaston battled the elements, as well as his opponents, at the Nebraska State Track and Field Championships on his way to back-to-back Class D high jump championships. Gaston battled rain both years during his run to the title. 

Gaston was one of six Wauneta-Palisade athletes who took part in seven events at the state meet Friday and Saturday in Omaha. See page 6 for more state track coverage.

Despite a rough and tumble race, the boys’ 3,200 meter relay team of Ben Anderjaska, Joel Maris, Brody Nordhausen and Cash Yearous ran its second best time of the season. Yearous ran his second best time of the season in the 1,600 meter run.
