Esther Lee Fanning - December 27, 2009
Esther Lee Fanning was born on Oct. 7, 1916, east of Wauneta, Neb., to William F. and Elva I. (Akers) Wright. As a young girl she attended country grade school and high school in Wauneta. Esther married Virgil G. Fanning on Oct. 26, 1935, and the couple settled on a farm near Hayes Center, Neb. Several years later they moved to a farm near Palisade and then in the 1960s Esther and Virgil made their home at Enders, Neb.
Esther was a farm wife, homemaker, and a wonderful mother and grandmother. She loved to work crossword puzzles, and enjoyed reading and watching TV game shows.
Esther passed away Sunday afternoon Dec, 27, 2009, at the Sutherland Care Center in Sutherland Neb. She was 93 years of age.
Survivors include: daughter: Donne Lorine Beck of Paxton, Neb.; four grandchildren: Justin “Jodie” Hill and wife, Gail; Laurie and husband Allen Briggs, Christine and husband Ron Buck and Lisa and husband Cole George; 11 great grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; six great, great grandchildren; brothers: Loran Wright and wife Irene of Palisade, Neb., and Don Wright and wife Irene of Roswell, N.M.; numerous nieces and nephews.
Esther was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil; son: Lowell; daughter: Dianne Tillotson; parents; granddaughter, Annette Fanning; grandson: David Swanson; brother and sister-in-law: Harold and Verlene Wright; sister: Beulah; infant sister: Virginia and brother-in-law: Howard Meyer.
Funeral services will be held Thursday morning, Dec. 31, 2009, 10:30 a.m MT at the Liewer Funeral Home in Wauneta, Neb., with Rev. Duane Dunwoody officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Wauneta.
Esther’s casket will be open for viewing before services on Thursday morning.
A memorial has been established in her memory.
