Elinor Blobaum - June 25, 2009


Elinor June Blobaum was born on Jan. 24, 1921, in Hayes County, Nebraska, to George William and Elsie (Israel) Branum.
As a young lady she attended Country Grade School and graduated from Wauneta High School in 1938. She continued her education at the University of Nebraska at Kearney and received her bachelor’s degree.
Elinor taught elementary grade school for many years in several different locations including Palisade, Wauneta, Enders and Champion.
She married George Henry Blobaum (Shorty) on Aug. 31, 1945, and the couple farmed south of Wauneta all of their married life. Shorty passed away in 1989 and Elinor moved into Wauneta where she made her home for several years.
In February of 2005, she moved to Linden Court Nursing Home in North Platte, Neb., where she passed away early Friday morning, June 19, 2009.
Elinor was preceded in death by her husband, George (Shorty); her parents; brothers: Earl, Dale, Milton (Bud); four sisters: Nella Bailey, Erma Newman, Ola Dudek and Wilma Cochran.
She is survived by her sister, Mary Willis of Littleton, Colo., sister-in-law Hazel Self of Denver, Colo., local nieces and nephews: niece Pat and husband Bob Kitt of Wauneta, Neb.; nephew Ronald Cochran and wife Jean of Grant, Neb.; niece Sherry and husband Ken Carfield of Culbertson, Neb.; niece Cindy and husband Tim Bundy of North Platte, Neb.; and niece Myrna and husband Kenneth Albert of Culbertson, Neb.
Funeral services for Elinor Blobaum were held Wednesday morning, June 24, 2009, at 11 a.m. MT at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Wauneta with Pastor Greg Stuckwisch officiating. Interment followed at Riverside Cemetery, Wauneta, Neb.
A memorial has been established to the Redeemer Lutheran Church of Wauneta.
Liewer Funeral Home of Wauneta was in charge of arrangements.
