Clarence “Butch” Way - January 16, 2014
Clarence “Butch” Lynn Way Sr. was born Sept. 24, 1943, at David City, Neb., to Clarence W. and Lucille I. (Harris) Way.
Butch attended school and graduated from Rising City High School in 1962. He served in the U.S. Army as a Paratrooper from May of 1963 through November of 1964.
After his discharge he started his long career in truck driving. Butch worked for many different trucking firms over the years including the Double O Trucking Company, where he was employed for 10 years.
Butch married Mary Ann Cerny on Nov. 28, 1980, in Osceola, Neb. The couple settled in Osceola before moving to southwest Nebraska, Wauneta, to be near family.
Butch was a member of the Imperial VFW Post # 4688, and loved to fish and golf.
Butch passed away Jan. 16, 2014, at Denver General Hospital in Denver, Colo. He was 70 years of age.
Butch was preceded in death by his parents and a son Terry.
Survivors include companion Mary Ann of Wauneta, Neb.; daughter Melissa Hipps and companion Scott Hecker of North Platte, Neb.; step-daughter Tisa Vanderpool of Texas; sons: Clarence L. Way Jr. of Arizona, Raymond Way of Arizona, Terry Way of Wyoming, David Way of Wyoming and Adam Way of Wyoming; granddaughter Raven; brother Willard Way and wife Judy of Mead, Neb.; sister Darlene Jens and companion Ken Shafer of Champion, Neb.; sister Sue Meyers of Champion, Neb.; brother Lee Way and wife Mary Jo of David City, Neb.; numerous nieces and nephews
Graveside memorial services were held Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, at Crete Cemetery, Rural Champion, Neb., with Vicar Jake Berger officiating and full military honors.
Soloist was Kim Silvester.
Honorary escorts were Rory Jens, John Taylor, Rick Jens, Stuart Way, John Miller and Steve Way.
