Carla McKillip - September 20, 2011

Carla McKillip, youngest child of Lamoine and Betty McKillip, died at Hillcrest Nursing Care Center in McCook on Sept. 20, 2011, at the age of 42. She was born Christmas Eve in 1968 at St. Catherine’s Hospital in McCook, Neb.
Carla attended early childhood education centers in North Platte and McCook, Neb. She enrolled in the Nebraska State School for Trainable Children in Cozad, Neb., and attended there until the school closed. She continued her education at Medicine Valley School in Curtis, Neb., before going to school in McCook, where she proudly graduated in 1990.
She worked at Southwest Area Training Services upon completion of her education. While at SWATS she was also employed at Pizza Hut where she greeted patrons with smiles and hugs.
She was a loving and caring individual who in her life, never met a stranger. She enjoyed her nieces and nephews and while her health allowed, loved attending their activities and sporting events.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lamoine Mc-Killip; grandparents, Fay and Mae McKillip and Elmer and Jessie Ward; and one uncle, Bob Ward; three cousins: Scott Loomis, Corey Cox and Darold Richards.
Carla is survived by her family who lovingly cared for her throughout her life: mother, Betty McKillip of McCook; brothers: Kirk McKillip and wife, Jane, of Houston, Texas, Tim McKillip and wife, Cindy, of Hayes Center, Neb., and Monte McKillip and wife, Kathy, of Lincoln, Neb.; and sister, Sue and husband, Kenny Messersmith, of Hayes Center, Neb.; 13 nieces and nephews, four great nieces and one great nephew. She also leaves behind many aunts and uncles who have been a blessing in her life.
Visitation was held Friday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., at the Herrmann Funeral Home in McCook.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, 2011, at Grace Baptist Church at 1010 East 6th in McCook.
Interment followed, where she was buried beside her father in the Hayes Center Cemetery in Hayes Center, Neb.
