Virgel Lorance - May 14, 2010

Virgel Lee ‘Virg’ Lorance was born Feb. 15, 1941, in Wray, Colo., to Lewis Price and Cressie Mae (Carr) Lorance. Virgel grew up in Wray and attended Wray High School, graduating in 1961.
On Oct. 1, 1961, Virgel married Kay Mumm in Wray, Colo., and to this union four children, Brad, Randy, Brenda and Kailee, were born.
Virgel and Kay also lived in Holyoke, Colo., for a short time before moving their family to the Imperial/Wauneta area in 1970 where Virgel was employed at Haggard Drilling in Imperial.
He later worked overseas in Saudi Arabia drilling water wells. He returned to Chase County where he worked for Frenchman Valley Farmers Co-op in Imperial and the Hamlet Elevator.
Virgel loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was also an avid Denver Bronco football fan and Colorado Rockies baseball fan.
Virgel passed away Friday, May 14, 2010, at the Imperial Manor Nursing Home. He was 69 years of age.
Virgel was preceded in death by his parents, wife Kay, sons Brad and Randy Lorance, brothers Lester, Marvin and Alfred Lorance.
Survivors include daughters, Kailee Kerber of Arvada, Colo., and Brenda Shill of Wauneta, Neb.; five grandchildren: Neil Brunkhorst, Destiny Bader, Skyler Shill, Vanessa Shill and Sabrina Shill; five great-grandchildren: Logan Brunkhorst, Reece Bader, Noah Brunkhorst, Colsen Bader and Ashton Baker.
Funeral Services for Virgel were held Wednesday morning, May 19, 2010, 10:30 a.m. MT at the American Legion Hall in Wauneta, with Rev. Greg Stuckwisch officiating.
Pianist was Mrs. Diana Ham and soloist was Mrs. Sharon Walgren.
Casketbearers were Neil Brunkhorst, Skyler Shill, Ryan Bader, Joe Ellenberger, Chris Baker and Ivan Shill.
Interment followed at Riverside Cemetery, Wauneta, Neb.
A memorial has been established in Virgel’s memory.
