The Wauneta-Palisade wrestlers had a frustrating day at Cambridge Saturday at the Fran Jorgensen Holiday Classic.
Not only were there computer troubles throughout the day, Coach Chad Cochran was frustrated with the team’s performance.
Colton Barrett and Cody Barrett each won one-of-three matches at the meet. Evan Nordhausen and Willis Christner both lost two matches.
Cochran said the team will have five practices before its next meet, Jan. 8 at Dundy County-Stratton. The Broncos will use that time to work on the basics and techniques.
“The boys still seem motivated,” said Cochran. “We need to keep the intensity up.”
He said the wrestlers have been small for their weight classes and, after the break, should move down a weight class.
Angel Hinojosa will be healed up by January and move to 138 pounds.
Colton Barrett will wrestle at 120 pounds. Christner moved from 152 pounds to 145 this week and will remain there. Cody Barrett will drop to 170 pounds. Cochran hopes the team will compete better in the lighter weight classes.
