The Wauneta Palisade high school has seen many graduates come and go through out the years.

Many past alumni may not be living in the local area, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t impacting the Wauneta area.

Kyle Kitt, oldest son of Keenan and Tina Kitt, was a 2002 graduate. He has two younger siblings, Ashley, a 2004 graduate, and John, a 2001 graduate.

After high school, Kitt attended the University of Kearney before transferring to the University of Nebraska Lincoln to finish out his college career with a major in Marketing Management. “I was very open minded when it came to choosing classes,” said Kitt.

Kitt now works for AGCO CORP one of the leading global manufacturers of agricultural equipment as a senior marketing planner.

AGCO CORP has a full line of tractors, hay tools, combines, sprayers and forage and tillage equipment that is distributed through over 3,100 independent dealers and distributors in more than 140 countries worldwide.

As the senior marketing planner, Kitt looks at future  market sales. He looks for future key countries and dealers for AGCO CORP. Kitt strategically and tactfully creates plans to move forward, and chooses which marketing shares they as a business should utilize or create.

With his job, Kitt has been given the opportunity to travel. He held a short term position in Bejing, China where he helped train workers.

“Most of our sales are to the government. The farmers don’t own their own land, it is all leased by the government,” Kitt said.

“There was always a translator in the room when we had conferences or prep work for new products. They spoke about 50 percent English, but were taking English classes that were offered,” Kitt said about the language barrier. “I learned about a dozen of words in Mandarin Chinese. Enough to say hello, thank you.”

Some of Kitt’s fondest memories from China were made while he was working. “It was fun working on prep work with the team on new products. I also got to make some instructional videos for the company to show to different teams.”

While Kitt was in China, he got to see the Great Wall of China, and has also traveled to Honduras and Mexico for business trips.

Being raised in small town Wauneta has its advantages and disadvantages. “Growing up in a small town gave me more experience and understanding to the equipment,” said Kitt.

“Some people come into this job with a good degree, but zero ag experience. The disadvantage was that I didn’t have much experience in cities or giving big presentations, but I quickly acclimated.”

Kitt is now living in Atlanta, Ga. “I am definitely open to moving back to the Wauneta area maybe sometime down the road, maybe settle down,” Kitt said.

Kitt is not married at the moment. “Once you graduate, and get a job you have to decide what you want to focus on,” Kitt said. “Typically, that means you’ll be either career-focused or family-focused. You can be both but it’s difficult to do both really well. Lately I’ve been more career-focused, but I hope to become more family-focused in the future.”

Kitt has been out of high school for 12 years and is proud he has achieved as much as he has already.

His main advice for high school students today is, “Go for what you want, have an open mind and don’t take things for granted. You will have to work hard to get what you want and then even harder to keep what you already have accomplished.”
