In early June, Randy Raile, owner of BW Telcom in Benkelman, offered a challenge grant of $25,000 to the Chase County Hospital Foundation. If the Foundation could raise $25,000, BW Telcom would match with a $25,000 donation.
Thanks to great community support of several activities and the generosity of individual donors, as well as the Imperial Community Foundation, the hospital foundation has met the challenge.
Raile presented the $25,000 check to representatives of the hospital administration and foundation last week.
According to Randy Vlasin, executive director of the CCH Foundation, “We had great support from the community.”
First, the Imperial Rotary got involved and produced the first ever Hosp-eriety Show on June 13. Their efforts helped us earn $3,600 towards the grant.
On the evening of that show, the Imperial Community Foundation presented a check for $15,000 to help with the effort.
On June 21, the annual Slice Fore Life Golf Benefit was held in Imperial. This benefit netted $11,400 which was also earmarked for the match.
“We have also received $1,200 in private donations. So in total, we raised $31,200 to meet the grant match,” Vlasin said.
Funds raised through the matching grant have been targeted for purchasing new scope equipment for the Chase County Community Hospital Surgery Department.
This equipment is critical for surgical departments and is an important diagnostic tool used by surgeons on a regular basis. It can also be used in emergency situations such as removing blockages in the esophagus.
“If there are funds left over after the purchase of the scope equipment, they will be applied to other needs within the hospital,” Vlasin said.
“We are very grateful to the Rotary Club, Imperial Community Foundation, private donors and all individuals who participated in and supported these activities which helped us exceed our goal of raising $25,000.
“We also sincerely appreciate the generosity of Randy Raile and BW Telcom for offering the challenge grant and making this fund raising effort possible,” exclaimed Vlasin.
