Melissa Markee and Eric Becker have teamed up to organize a new truck show for the 2014 Chase County Fair. The “Smokin’ Chrome Truck Show” will be held on Saturday, Aug. 16 from noon to 4 p.m. MT in the Chase County Schools parking lot.

Representatives from Garden City Peterbilt and Farmers’ Oil will judge the show. There are no categories in the show. Instead, judges will “look at the truck as a whole,” explained Markee. The grand prize winner, chosen by the judges, will receive a $500 grand prize. Second place will receive $250, third place $125 and there will be other items given away. There is no entry fee to join the show.

Markee and Becker expect 25-30 trucks this year, their first year organizing the show.

Trucks must be registered on Friday, Aug. 15 between noon and 6 p.m. MT at the school parking lot. The judging will take place on Saturday between noon and 3 p.m. MT. Awards will be announced at 4 p.m. MT. Markee said A Cut Above will be in town to polish trucks for the show if owners are interested.

Contact Melissa Markee at 308-883-0250 or Eric Becker at 308-883-1335 for more information or to register.
