A Palisade man faces possible federal prison time on charges of alleged production and manufacturing of child pornography, according to a release issued last Thursday, Jan. 23 from the office of U.S. Attorney Deborah R. Gilg.

Jerald Vrbas, 60, of Palisade was charged with a three-count indictment. According to the release, “indictments are charging documents that contain one or more individual counts that are merely accusations, and every defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.”

The first count charges Vrbas with production and manufacturing of child pornography on or about September 2012. If convicted, he could face prison time of 15 to 30 years, a $250,000 fine and five years to life supervised release as well as a $100 special assessment.

The second count charges Vrbas with receipt and distribution of child pornography from on and before September 6, 2013. If convicted, he could serve five to 20 years in prison, a $250,000 fine and five years to life supervised release as well as a $100 special assessment.

The final count charges Vrbas with possession of child pornography from on or about October 22, 2013. The maximum possible penalty for this count, if convicted, is imprisonment of 10 years, a $250,000 fine, five years to life supervised release and a $100 special assessment.
