The new medical clinic got a boost from a generous donation from Loretta and Randy Raile of BWTelcom, Benkelman, to the Wauneta Community Foundation.
Winners of the Festival of Lights by Heritage of Wauneta were Merrill and Emma Jean Maris, first place; Tom and Lucille Klima, second place and Bill and Rhonda Bischoff, third place.
The Wine family gathered at the home of Gerald and Arlene Wine Christmas Day for the annual carry-in dinner. All of the children and their families were in attendance.
Don and Jackie Kennedy and their family gathered at the home of Jannette Lantis for their annual soup supper and gift exchange.
The Wauneta-Palisade girls and boys basketball teams were winners of their holiday tournaments; the girls beating two state ranked teams, Rushville and Banner County en route to the win and the boys taking the win for the second straight year with wins also over Rushville and Banner County.

The Orange Bowl game will bring Brian Harchelroad’s Husker career to an end. He feels enriched by the experience which also helped him grow as an individual. “It’s been a good learning experience, not just about football but about life,” he said. He gained a keen respect for Coach Tom Osborne because of his character. “He always tries to teach us more than just football.” Harchelroad will graduate in May.
Santa Claus visited the Kids Kangaroo Pre-School Dec. 21, bringing candy canes and gifts for the children. Enjoying his visit were April Hamilton, Brooke Pankonin, Kallan Kitt, Jeffrey Lytle, Rachel Lucas, Julie Long, Jessica Long, Dustin Harris, Mandi Janicek, Kyle Kitt, Chris Steckman, Kayla Einspahr, Cody Noble, Shelby Anderson and Elisha Madden.
Nine kindergarten girls received pins and certificates as part of the Investiture Ceremony for Daisy Scouts at the Wauneta Scout House Thursday evening, Dec. 15. Members of the Daisy troop were April Littrel, Kristyn Kuskie, Sarah Harrison, Somer Schneider, Krystle Christner, Crystal Lytle, Danielle Harchelroad and Michelle Doekter. Leaders are Renea Harchelroad and Sue Schneider.
Faye Rueter received special recognition at the Eastern Star meeting Tuesday evening when Worthy Matron Lois Hoff presented her with her 50-year pin. She has been a member of the Wauneta chapter the entire 50-year span, having been initiated on Nov. 23, 1938.
Pre-Christmas supper guests of the Rod Wheeler family on Dec. 12 were Wesley and Marjorie Wheeler, Averill and Ladene Hudnall, Fred and Marvel Miller and Laverna Fanning. They then attended Marty Wheeler’s school program.
Grace Oliver entertained eight members of her sewing club on Tuesday with a gift exchange.
The Shilohettes Extension Club met at the Steak Out Dec. 13, then went to the home of Minnie Knepper for dessert and gift exchange. Ten members attended.
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Gockley and Hilda Nordhausen were guests in the Dennis Gockley home Christmas Eve after attending St. Paul’s Lutheran Church program.

Susan Ham was installed as Honored Queen Saturday night at Job’s Daughters Installation.
All of the surviving children of Mrs. Stella Gregory were together during the Christmas holiday - the first time in 13 years. Family here were Pearl Dragoo of Worland, Wyo., Marge Engell of Wauneta, Ruth Stransky of Munden, Kan. Hazel Novacek of Wauneta, Vera Winters of Borger, Texas, Ray Gregory of Hiawatha, Kan., and Harry Gregory of Largo, Fla.
Mr. and Mrs. Howard Gibbons and boys entertained at an oyster and chile supper Saturday evening with guests Mr. and Mrs. Karl Polly and Kip, Mr. and Mrs. Elvin Weber and Pat, Mr. and Mrs. George Whitman and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Smith.
Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Kanost and family entertained Elmer Kanost and Mrs. Velma Reddington at dinner Christmas Eve and attended the Christmas program at the Methodist Church following dinner.
Mr. and Mrs. Gene Justice’s over Christmas guests were daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Alex O’Laughlin of White Plains, N.Y., and son Lloyd and wife of Denver. Mr. and Mrs. Sam Gauger joined them Christmas Day.

The Ned Ele shoe shop and grocery moved last week from the Peterson building on the west side of main street into the White Eagle filling station south of the tracks.
No train service on the Imperial branch Monday, the trains being annulled on account of the legal holiday.
Twelve Rebekahs surprised Misses Rosa and Nora Handel at a housewarming party Wednesday evening at their newly built home in the east part of town. The evening was spent playing Star checkers and gifts for the kitchen were presented to the honorees.
Donna Rudisil was a Sunday dinner guest of Roberta Carlson on New Year’s Day, the occasion being Roberta’s birthday anniversary.

Pribbeno brothers attended the shooting match at Forest Lyon’s Saturday.
The German people spent Christmas at Mr. Bischoff’s and the next day at Haarberg’s.
The young people gave Tom Stinnette a good surprise Friday night. The evening was spent with games, music and refreshments. The guests departed at a late hour and hoped Tom would know the next party was on him.
