A bigger serving area in the open air pavilion was a good move for the brat feed Wednesday at the Chase County Fair. About 325 people were served in the two hours before the Laura Story Christian concert that night. Funds raised will go to Mercy Meals of Southwest Nebraska, which recruits volunteers to package nourishing food that will be delivered by the Orphan Grain Train to hungry children worldwide. According to Mercy Meals board member Mary Haarberg, the benefit grossed $2,611, and another $500 will be added from Thrivent Financial. Above, Phyllis Mock places a brat on Makayla DaMoude’s plate.
