Four area fifth and sixth grade boys and their coaches competed in their conference all-star game last week.

After finishing the season undefeated and winning the postseason tournament, Dennis Cavanaugh, Dalton Harchelroad, Duncan Rector and Joel Maris played one last game on their home field July 8, when Wauneta hosted all-stars from Bird City, St. Francis, Atwood and Benkelman.

Coaches Rod Rector, Brian Harchelroad and Landon Lemberg drafted teams with the other coaches. Players were chosen for the all-stars teams based on recommendations from their individual coaches.

The all-stars were divided into two teams by drawing names from a hat.

Cavanaugh and Maris played on the All Stars #1 team and Harchelroad and Rector played on the All Stars #2 team. Lemberg helped coach the #1 team and Brian Harchelroad and Rod Rector helped coach the #2 team.

At the end of the night, the #2 team beat the #1 team with a score of 12 to 8.
