Wauneta-Palisade graduate Emma Skelton was in North Platte Friday to take part in the seventh annual Mid-Plains Area All-Star Girls’ Basketball game.

Skelton scored one point for the Gold team, which lost 83-68.

After the Gold team opened up an 11-4 lead, the Black team used its full-court press to key a 16-point run and take a 45-33 lead at halftime.

Brooklyn Trew of McCook led the Gold team, coached by Holdrege head coach Trent Benjamin, with 11 points.

The Black team was led by Sutherland’s Sam Kennedy and McCook’s Rachel Goltl. Each scored 15 points. The Black team was coached by Sandhills/Thedford head coach Scott Leisy.

The Black team also won the boys contest, 78-68.

Skelton will also be participating in the Sertoma All-Star Volleyball Game Saturday in McCook at the MCC Events Center.
