The Broncos wrapped up the first day of the RPAC Tournament with the nightcap against Wallace. For the second time this season Wauneta-Palisade picked up a close win over the Wildcats, this time 49-48.

The game started well for the Broncos. Wauneta-Palisade opened up a 7-2 lead behind baskets by Bo Fanning and Logan Bischoff and a three-pointer from Jack McGraw.

After a Wallace basket, the Broncos finished the quarter on a 5-0 run with the help of nice passing. Bischoff picked up a basket off a pass from Connor Kayton and an assist from Bischoff led to a make by Fanning.

Leading by eight, 12-4, heading into the second quarter, Wauneta-Palisade extended its lead to as many as 14. The team passed well and rebounded well during the run.

Hayden Pollmann made baskets off an assist from West and after an offensive rebound. McGraw hit a three-pointer and found Kayton for a bucket. Bischoff added six points as the Broncos raced to a 28-16 halftime lead.

The ball did not bounce Wauneta-Palisade’s way after intermission. The Broncos’ lead decreased as turnovers and fouls mounted.

Wauneta-Palisade watched its lead shrink to five points as Wallace scored 15 points in the third quarter. Bischoff scored six of the team’s eight points.

Wallace scored first in the final quarter to cut the lead to three. The Wildcats answered two McGraw free throws with a three-pointer to narrow the lead to two.

A six point run featuring two baskets by Bischoff and one by West gave the Broncos some breathing room. Wallace responded with a 12-4 run over a four minute span to tie the game at 48 with 1:10 remaining.

After a Wallace miss, Fanning made one of two free throws with 5.3 seconds left to seal the win.

Bischoff and McGraw finished in double figures for the Broncos. Bischoff led the team with 24 points. McGraw chipped in ten. Fanning added seven points and West contributed four. Kayton and Pollmann each scored two points.

The Broncos made nine-of-17 free throws.

Duell led Wallace with 14 points.
