The Ninth Annual 4S Goat Expo will begin at 12:30 p.m. with registration at the Dawson County Fairgrounds, 1000 Plum Creek Parkway, Lexington Nebraska Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011, said Randy Saner, Lincoln/McPherson County Extension Educator. Entries and weigh in of show and sale goats will take place Saturday morning from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. with the seminar starting at 1:00 p.m. The seminar expects to draw participants from Kansas, Colorado, South Dakota and Nebraska, Saner said. Program topics include: Record Keeping for Profitable Production – Kenneth M Andries, Ph.D., Kentucky State University Marketing Meat Goats – Frank Pinkerton, AKA the Goat Man Dollars and Sense of Raising Sheep and Meat Goats in Nebraska – Randy Saner, University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension Educator Elements of a Successful Goat Enterprise – Kenneth Andries Value-Added Merchandising – Frank Pinkerton Goat Producer Panel Discussion – Jo Ellen Wiese, John Scott, Karen Buettner, Roland Helberg, Jo Bek, Kenneth Andries and Frank Pinkerton Added attractions include commercial vendors, door prizes and a goat raffle, Saner said. Kenneth Andries will judge the Sunday show, which begins at 9:00 a.m. in the Stevens Arena. Grand and Reserve Champion will be awarded. The sale starts at 1:00 p.m. with auctioneer Wendell Brott.
