School open house planned Saturday
Community members and Wauneta-Palisade alumni are invited to take part in an open house this Saturday which will offer an up-close look at construction improvements that were made at the Wauneta Attendance Center this past year.
The open house is scheduled at two separate times on Saturday — the first showing will take place during the hour following graduation and again that afternoon at 5:30 p.m. MT/6:30 p.m. prior to the start of the Alumni Banquet.
Wauneta Swimming Pool set to open May 31
If weather permits, plans are in place for the Wauneta swimming pool to open for the season next week on Tuesday, May 31. Pool hours opening week will be from 1 to 5 p.m. MT. More information about the upcoming pool season will be awailable in next week’s Breeze.
Interest in Harvest Fest Melodrama sought
Miss the old melodramas of Harvest Fests past? There are some Wauneta residents interested in putting together another performance.
Organizers Aaron and Sara Behrends are seeking input from those interested in putting together a melodrama performance at the Chateau Theatre on July 28, the Thursday night of Harvest Fest week.
The production would be geared toward actors high school age or older and would not involve any singing.
If this is something that you would like to be a part of contact Aaron or Sara at 394-5936 no later than June 5.
No Wau-Pal Elementary Field Day this year
Elementary Field Day has been cancelled for 2011.
Originally scheduled for May 12, the event was delayed due to bad weather. School officials planned to move field day to the last week of school, but due to other scheduling conflicts could not find a suitable day to host the event.
School year winding down at Wau-Pal
The school year is almost a wrap with just a handful of end-of-the-school-year events remaining on the calender:
• Last day of school, Thursday, May 26.
• WP Graduation,Saturday, May 28, at 10 a.m. MT/11 a.m. at the gym in Wauneta.
• WP Alumni Banquet, Saturday, May 28, at 6:30 p.m. MT/7:30 p.m. CT at the gym in Wauneta.
Hamlet Union VBS set for June 6-10
The rush is on in the search for spiritual gold as Hamlet Union Church gets ready for Vacation Bible School.
VBS will be held daily for youngsters preschool age through sixth grade, June 6-10, from 8 to 11 a.m. MT/9 a.m. to noon CT at Hamlet Union Church. This year’s theme is “Gold Rush: Discovering the Rock of Ages.”
Lutheran churches team up for VBS
St. Paul Lutheran Church and Redeemer Lutheran are teaming up to host Vacation Bible School at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Wauneta. VBS sessions will be held June 6, 7 and 8, from 9 a.m. to noon MT. All youngsters preschool age through sixth grade are welcome to attend. This year’s theme is “Built Upon The Rock.”
Summer reading program at the library
“One World, Many Stories” is the theme of this year’s summer reading program offered free of charge at the Wauneta Public Library. The program will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. MT on Wednesday mornings throughout June beginning on June 1. To register your child or for more information call 394-5243 or 394-5797.
