Wrestlers stay busy with Medicine Valley, Arapahoe Invites

Members of the Wauneta-Palisade wrestling team were pushed to their limits last week with back-to-back meets at Medicine Valley and Arapahoe.
The team was in Curtis Friday for the MV Invite.
Cody Holmes got WP’s lone win of the day in his first-round match at 182 pounds. Holmes pinned Preston Bearley of Rawlins County in 28 seconds.
Cole Hamilton was credited a medical forfeit in the fifth-place match at 220 pounds.
With wrestlers seeded into pools and brackets, WP wrestlers are often drawing tough matches early in the meets.
At 106 pounds, Colby Hoskovec lost to wrestlers with 17-9 and 25-8 records for his two pool matches and was done for the day.
Evan Nordhausen lost to wrestlers with 29-3 and 19-14 records in the 120-pound bracket.
Nordhausen put up a good fight, but a nagging shoulder injury continues to hamper him, Coach Danny Schluckebier said.
Also at 120 pounds, Hunter Miner lost his first round match to a wrestler with a 27-11 record and ended his meet with a loss in the consolation bracket to an opponent who was 7-5.
