WP tackles Hitchcock County Invite, gets a break before RPAC

The Wauneta-Palisade track teams capped off a busy week, and entered Easter break, with the Hitchcock County Invite April 17.
The Broncos had spent April 15 in Cambridge at the Medicine Valley Invite. Despite the quick turnover the WP boys’ team was able to bring home second place behind McCook JV.
Ty Duvel won the 200-meter dash with a personal record and also finished first in the high jump. Ben Anderjaska brought home wins in the 400-meter dash and 800-meter run. Dennis Cavanaugh took first place in the shot put.
The 400-meter relay team, Grant Walker, Anderjaska, Austen Rozelle and Duvel, won their race.
Placing first for the girls’ team was Zoey Boos in the 1,600-meter run and Michaela Dukes in the 300-meter hurdles.
Overall the boys’ team set eight PRs and the girls’ team  seven.
WP coach Dawn Doetker is pleased to see the PRs continue and said the team is improving each week.
She also said the throwers have really shown improvement.
