WP falls to South Platte, hosts Banner County Friday afternoon

The Wauneta-Palisade football team fell to 0-3 with a loss to South Platte Friday, but coaches are seeing the improvements needed to get that first win.
“We made big improvements from week two to week three especially defensively and in tackling,” WP Co-Head Coach Joseph Frecks said.
WP trailed 0-15 late in the first half until Braxton McKinney scrambled and was able to find Michael Duvel for a 36-yard pass to set up a 5-yard touchdown pass from Duvel to McKinney two plays later.
The pair connected for WP’s final touchdown, a 10-yard pass from McKinney to Duvel in the fourth quarter of the 13-35 loss.
WP had good field position several times in the game, but was unable to take advantage.
“We had some struggles finishing drives offensively,” Frecks said. “We were able to move the ball overall, but will look to improve on our consistency and finishing drives out.”
