Wauneta-Palisade nipped by Med. Valley, Vikings up next

The Wauneta-Palisade football team fell to 1-2 after a loss Medicine Valley Thursday in Curtis.
Neither offense had much luck early in the game. The first quarter ended with a 0-0 tie.
But the Broncos had the ball at the start of the second quarter and were quick to put points on the board.
Ben Anderjaska completed passes to Tucker Boos for 20 yards each as WP marched down the field.
The Broncos scored on a 17-yard pass from Anderjaska to Braxton McKinney.
Despite knocking on the door at the end of the first half, WP couldn’t get into the end zone and headed into halftime with the 8-0 lead.
The Raiders made up for lost time in the second half. MV’s Sam Heapy fielded the opening kickoff and raced 66 yards for a touchdown.
After WP’s drive stalled, Med. Valley drove to the Broncos’ four-yard line.
On first and goal Grant Walker picked off a Raiders’ pass to end the drive.
Facing a long field, WP lined up to punt the ball away on fourth down, but an offsides on the Raiders kept the Broncos alive.
WP took advantage of the miscue.
