Sarah Christensen clears a hurdle in the 300-meter hurdles

Skow, Simpson, Boos headed to this week’s state track meet

The Wauneta-Palisade girls’ track team will be sending three athletes to this week’s state track meet.
Senior Faith Simpson shook off an ankle injury to win the shot put and discus.
Senior Reagan Skow will be headed to state for the first time in her career after a second place finish in the shot put.
Freshman Zoey Boos qualified in the 1,600-meter dash. In previous years only the fastest third place times could become additional state meet qualifiers.
This year the rule changed to the next six fastest times after the top two finishers in each district. So although Boos finished fourth in the district, her time was good enough to earn her a trip to Omaha.
Wauneta-Palisade Coach Dawn Doetker said the change is going to be different but she thinks it will help WP in the long run.
Also placing for the Broncos was Michaela Dukes, third in the 300-meter hurdles and fourth in the 100-meter hurdles; Haylee Sandman, sixth in the 200 and 400-meter dashes; and the 4x800-meter relay team of Maycee Wheeler, Payton Yearous, Boos and Alejandra Almanza finished fourth.
This year will be Simpson’s fourth trip to the state meet.
Simpson will throw discus right off the bat Friday morning.
