Nordhausen, Christner take on RPAC’s best

Evan Nordhausen and Willis Christner brought home wins from last week’s RPAC tournament at Southern Valley.
Each wrestled five matches and finished fifth.
In the six-man, 106-pound round robin bracket, Nordhausen won his first match of the meet over William McGehee of Maxwell.
Wauneta-Palisade coach Danny Schluckebier said Nordhausen wrestled well against McGehee.
It was a competitive match, before Nordhausen over came some first match jitters to earn the pin, according to Schluckebier.
Nordhausen’s second match was against first-place finisher Jacob Hilmer.
Though pinned early in the match, Schluckeiber said Nordhausen wrestled well.
In his third match, Nordhausen took on Isaac Goshert, who went on to finish second.
Schluckebier said Nordhausen showed good defense, but it wasn’t enough.
Third-place finisher Shane Howart was Nordhausen’s fourth opponent and fourth-place finisher Chet Fisher wrapped up Nordhausen’s day with pins in both matches.
Nordhausen wrestled with more intensity in his final match, Schluckebier said, but not enough energy.
Christner also faced a six-man round robin bracket at 160 pounds.
Christner came out and missed a chance at a pin in his first match at 160 pounds before being pinned himself.
In his second match, Christner came up against first-place finisher Chase Becker.
“Willis defended well but was pinned half way through,” Schluckebier said. “Willis did not give up just higher caliber opponent we are not used to.”
