Lady Broncos dominate Perkins County, Eustis-Farnam
With the RPAC volleyball tournament looming, the Wauneta-Palisade volleyball team improved its record to 15-4 with wins over Perkins County and Eustis-Farnam.
WP started off the week Tuesday with a Pink Out game against Perkins County for Senior Night.
Following a competitive first set, which WP won 25-22, the Broncos picked up steam in the second game, winning 25-15.
The momentum carried over in the third set. WP opened up a large lead early in the set and cruised down the stretch, finishing off the Plainsmen 25-14.
WP hit .212 for the match. Faith Simpson led WP with 14 kills as well as eight blocks.
Haylee Sandman had three aces.
Michaela Dukes had 18 assists. Natalie Rameriz had 14 receptions and 15 digs.
Friday WP took on Eustis-Farnam following the football game.
The Knights were no match for WP. The Broncos spread the ball around on offense with Simspon, Destiny Beacham, Monique Gooden, Sandman and Payton Yearous all getting kills in the first set.
Four straight aces by Michaela Dukes sealed Eustis-Farnam’s fate in the first set, a 25-10 WP win.
The Broncos stayed hot in the second set. Sandman and Simpson set the tone at the net. Simpson ran off a string of five aces in the 25-11 win.
In the third set, once more, multiple attackers powered the WP offense. The Broncos wrapped up the match with a 25-9 victory.
The team finished with a .300 hitting percentage. Simpson had 12 kills and Sandman six.
Dukes totaled 21 assists, as well as four aces.
Simpson had 10 aces and seven blocks. Beacham also scored four aces.
As a team, WP had 19 aces.
