Lady Broncos bring home win over Southwest
The Wauneta-Palisade girls’ basketball team got back in the win column Saturday night with a victory over Southwest.
After a three-pointer by Dakota Ingold to open the game, WP found itself trailing 3-6. Four points by Michaela Dukes helped rally the Broncos to a 11-9 lead at the end of the first.
Scoring was hot and heavy in the second quarter. Monique Gooden hit two three-points for WP, plus 4-5 free throws. Overall WP made 7-11 from the charity strip in the second quarter. SW’s Nicole Dewey kept the game close with 16 points of her own. WP lead 35-29 at halftime.
SW cut the lead to four points before Ingold and Gooden scored seven straight points to boost the lead to 42-31. SW was ready to call it a night, however, and closed the gap to 46-41 at the end of the third.
