In Holyoke Tuesday night will be races at Phillips County Raceway beginning at 6 p.m., with pits opening at 3 p.m. Modifieds, sport mods, stock cars, hobby stocks and compacts will be featured at the midseason championship.
    Raceway promoter Joe Bellm encourages raceway fans to take advantage of the local fireworks show at the end of the night.
    Holyoke Police Department reminds citizens of a good rule of thumb for whether a firework is legal in Holyoke: if it explodes or leaves the ground, it is illegal. For questions about the legality of fireworks, contact HPD at 970-854-2342.
    Preceding Holyoke’s Independence Day celebration, weekend action is scheduled at the Phillips County Raceway. Friday, June 30, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Pits open at 4:30 p.m.
