Fourteenth win doesn’t come easy for Bronco boys’ basketball team

The Wauneta-Palisade boys’ basketball team added two wins to its record last week, one that came easy and one they had to work for.
The easy win came Thursday night against Medicine Valley (0-16). WP scored enough points in the first period to win.
Dalton Harchelroad and Dennis Cavanaugh started the game off with baskets against the overmatched Raiders, before Joel Maris scored seven-straight points.
Duncan Rector, Caid Doetker and Ben Anderjaska got in on the act with baskets before Rector went on a tear, scoring 10-straight points.
Anderjaska wrapped up WP’s 32-point first quarter with a three-pointer.
The points continued to roll in during the second quarter, when all 11 Broncos played. Cavanaugh made two 3s and Braxton McKinney made 4-4 free throws.
With WP leading 51-10 at halftime, the clock ran throughout the second half.
Rector scored seven more points in the third quarter and didn’t play in the fourth. He finished the game with a team-high 19 points.
