WP FFA greenhouse one step closer to completion

The Wauneta-Palisade FFA greenhouse has been an ongoing project of the chapter for the last couple years. The project that twenty-two area farmers, local businesses, individual patrons and various grants has helped fund is now one step closer to being complete.
Located across the street north of the school, thanks in part to zoning efforts by Village Superintendent Bill Bischoff, the greenhouse’s outside exterior outside installation of the greenhouse’s outside polycarbonate walls took place all last week.
The Village of Wauneta was present with a two bucket trucks to assist in the wall installation.
According to FFA Advisor Rod Gaston, although the project has taken more hours and manpower than originally planned, he is still excited they are closer to being 100 percent complete.
Gaston’s fourth-hour class has helped put up the side walls, run rubber rope sealer along the edges of the building and much more.
“The students have helped speed up the process and also got a lesson in construction. They have seen that it’s not just nailing things into a wall,” said Gaston.
The greenhouse now sits in wait for electrical work which will be contracted out. Joe Vrbas and Kenny Lawless have also put in several work hours during this project.
