Harold Wayne Harmon was born Aug. 7, 1937, at Imperial, Nebraska, to George and Marietta (Munson) Harmon. Harold grew up and attended school in the Champion-Lamar area. As a young man, he assisted on the family farm and became a farmer himself, farming near Champion for many years.
Harold was married to Frances Weiss, and Jan Liebhart. He married Judy Troudt on May 26, 2006.
He was an artisan in his own rite, playing in three different Western Bands. He enjoyed hunting and camping in the mountains and loved fishing on his boat “The Blue Angel.” Harold was a charter member of the Imperial Eagles Aerie # 3472, as well as an Elks member of Wray, Colorado.
Harold Harmon passed away early Thursday morning, Nov. 28, 2019 at the Wauneta Care and Therapy Center in Wauneta. He was 82 years of age.
Survivors include wife, Judy Harmon of Champion; sons, Dennis Harmon and wife, Jennifer, of Longview, Texas; Rick Harmon and wife, Jo, of Worland, Wyoming; Randy Harmon and wife, Brenda, of Rush, Colorado; daughter, Carol Horinek of Loveland, Colorado; brothers, Martin Harmon of Imperial, Robert Harmon and wife, Mary of Imperial; Sister, Gerietta Morse of Imperial; grandchildren Venessa Harmon, Cassidy Larison, Heather (Aaron) Bassett, Hannah (Abhishek) Neelam, Lydia Harmon, Naomi Harmon, Luke Harmon, Justin (Judi) Horinek, Travis Horinek; great-grandchildren Lilianna, Aden, Lucian, Beau, Forrest; great-great-grandchild Aden; step-children Ron Liebhart, Mike (Cristie) Liebhart, Dan (Stacy) Liebhart, Cheryl Cecile and Robyn (Jeremy) Wheatcraft; step-grandchildren Zane, Chance, Cooper, Katelyn, Brock, Ashlee (Mark) Longwell, Maria (Ryan) Reid and Melissa Pope; step-great-grandchild Michael.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jan Liebhart; sons Russell and Timothy; brother Levi Harmon; great-granddaughter Journey; brother-in-law Elwin Morse; nephew Arlyn Morse.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, Oct. 10, 2020, 10:30 a.m. MT at the Champion Community Center, Champion with Mr. Jim Smith officiating.
No viewing; Harold chose cremation.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established to the Champion Community Center.
The Chase County Museum of Champion will be open after services to view some of Harold’s displays.
