Western States Bank of Wauneta is sponsoring the first “We CAN Do Good Together Canned Food Drive” as part of the 2017 holiday season. All of the nonperishable food donations will go to the Chase County Food Pantry.
    The bank invites any interested businesses, churches, groups, etc. to make a creative food drop-off box which will be judged by the Wauneta Breeze Nov. 6. Western States Bank of Wauneta is offering a $25 cash prize to the winner of the most creatively decorated drop-off box.
    The bank has had food drives in the past, but this is the first year it is opening its doors and inviting other businesses, Wauneta-Palisade Schools, churches, etc. to join them, said Senior Vice President Branch Manager Brenda Anderson.
    If interested in participating contact the bank by Nov. 3 at 308-394-5720. Monetary donations will also be accepted and should be taken to Western States Bank of Wauneta. The bank will go around to each participating location and pick up all food donations on Dec. 15.
    Western States Bank of Wauneta is also hosting the Wauneta Chamber of Commerce’s Holiday Mixer and encourages all participants to bring a canned good to drop off.
