Wauneta Community Building in need of repairs, fund raising begins

The Village of Wauneta is seeking the help of the community to raise funds to make upgrades to the Wauneta Community Building.
The community building’s committee of three, Tony Cribelli, Rick Einspahr and Bill Bischoff, met and discussed the building’s most important needs about a month ago.
After consulting with Hunter Heating & Cooling they went to the board to gain approval to find funding to replace the heating and cooling unit, redo all duct work, replace the kitchen coolers that currently leak, get a new warming oven, paint the kitchen, and make the building more handicap accessible.
The committee would also like to eventually tear down the building courtyard’s stone wall that faces Tecumseh and replace it with wrought iron fence. The goal is to make the courtyard an area that can be used on a daily basis whether it is for a community member’s lunch break or a family picnic.
In the back of the current courtyard a 20-square-foot handicap accessible parking spot would also be installed.
The building currently has one set of double swing frame doors that lead into the courtyard. Cribelli hopes to install a second double swing frame door.
