Two months ago the Chateau Theatre sent out a cry for help when its server, the main system that holds/plays all movies, went down. The breakdown brought up a startling question. Would the theatre have to close its doors, or would enough funds be raised to purchase a new server?
    The concern was quickly met with an outpouring of support from the people of Wauneta, and several area community members.
    The Wauneta Chamber of Commerce, the theatre’s owners, had its regular March meeting where about 80 community members attended to share ideas and show support for the theatre.
    From its first financial struggles to Tuesday, May 29 a total of $30,479.15 has been raised either through generous donations or fundraisers.
    Continued efforts to raise funds are still rolling, and if people wish to make a donation they can either stop in at Western States Bank or mail in a donation to Wauneta Chamber, PO Box 211, Wauneta, NE 69045.
    A $250 movie sponsorship is one avenue of support. The sponsorship lasts the whole weekend.
