Plans for salvage yard moving forward

The Chase County Commissioners had there first December meeting one day early, meeting Monday, Dec. 11, instead of the usual Tuesday.
Attending the meeting were commissioners Dave Hogsett and Chuck Vette.
The board was informed on Jorge Marquez, Jr.’s progress towards opening a salvage yard.
Marquez had completed a Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan and finished his Environmental Impact Study for the State of Nebraska.
Marquez’s next steps are installing signs or having a plan for signs and fencing the area for the salvage yard.
After he has completed these steps, the State of Nebraska will inspect the site and issue a license. At that point, Marquez may open for business.

New county building
As the new county building continues to take shape, plans were discussed for the interior of the building.
Chase County Attorney Arlan Wine, Julie Gockley with the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Duane Todd with Chase County Veterans Service Office and extension agency representatives Debbie Kuenning and Connie Griess helped the commissioners get a feel for what furnishings will be needed in the new building.
Gockley said the State of Nebraska will help move the DHHS office and provide furnishings.
