James W. and Addie Decker Thomas farmed west of Wauneta between 1932 and 1966 where Rick Taylor and family now reside.
All seven of the Thomas children graduated from Wauneta High School between 1927 and 1949. Three married into other Wauneta families: the Mohlers, the Berggrens and the Krausnicks. James and Addie Thomas had twenty-five grandchildren, all of whom considered Wauneta their destination when going to visit grandparents.
During Memorial Day weekend, many of these grandchildren returned to Riverside Cemetery to enjoy visiting with their cousins. They gathered at the former Maxfield house next to the Wauneta Roller Mill.
They cooked recipes from decades past and enjoyed aromas and flavors of their youth. The cousins visited the cemetery, walked the streets of Wauneta and visited the Methodist Church. Contacts were also made in Imperial.
Thirty-seven people attended at least two meals with the Thomas Family.
