Healthy for good

February is American Heart Month. Everyone wants a healthy heart but most people don’t really want anyone telling them how to live their lives. The American Heart Association has a new program to encourage people to create lasting changes in your health and your life, one step at a time. This movement is called Healthy For Good and is not a guilt trip. It is designed to help you in your desire to be healthy for the rest of your life not just for the next few weeks or months.
The movement is based on four simple approaches. Eat Smart. Add Color. Move More. Be Well.
Eat Smart. Think about what is on your plate. Eating healthy doesn’t mean dieting or giving up the foods you love. Emphasize nutrient-dense foods and work to reduce the food that isn’t full of good nutrients.
Add Color. Try to include fruits and vegetables at every meal and snack. All forms are good including fresh, frozen, canned and dried. These foods come in all kinds of amazing colors making it easy to add color to your plate and life.
