ficials wait for a judge’s ruling on an inmate’s Chase County Community Hospital bill, Chase County Commissioners Dave Hogsett, Chuck Vette and Don Weiss, Jr. approved Chase County Sheriff Kevin Mueller’s request to dissolve the Interlocal Cooperation Agreement between the Chase County and City of Imperial’s law enforcement agencies.
    The city has been given 60 days notice, but Imperial Chief of Police Ryan Wisnieski said terminating the agreement does not affect the Imperial Police Department’s use of the Chase County Jail and Dispatch.
    The agreement was put into place in 2013 after an Imperial officer was injured after responding to a Chase County Deputy’s call for assistance in Wauneta.
    The interlocal agreement defined “the situations in which Nebraska Certified Law Enforcement Officers employed by the City of Imperial Police Department shall be deemed as acting Deputized Officers of the Sheriff of Chase County.”
    Since then Nebraska Revised Statute 29-215 has been passed that states “any law enforcement officer who is within this state, but beyond his or her primary jurisdiction, has the power and authority to enforce the laws of this state or any legal ordinance of any city or incorporated village or otherwise perform the functions of his or her office,” including calls for assistance.
