Chase County Arts Council presents “The Bucks Stop Here”

Many years ago, either a musical or play presented by the Chase County Arts Council was a common and expected event during the Chase County Fair week.
Hoping to re-start the tradition, the arts council has chosen “The Bucks Stop Here” written by Imperial’s very own Cathy Howard to feature the first two nights of fair week, Aug. 13 and 14.
With both a mystery and melodrama theme, Brad Street and Will Done, partners in a brand new detective agency, get a call from a tinny computer voice hiring them to solve the mysterious disappearance of the reclusive quadrillionaire R. E. Plentybucks.
The trail leads them to Plentybucks’ two ex-wives, daughter and current fiancee. They find all the elements of a TV detective show, including an exhausting run after a suspect, a high speed chase, a mysterious stranger and a foray down a desolate, unpaved, garbage-filled alley before the case is finally solved.
Male characters include: Brad Street; Mysterious Stranger; W. E. Suem, attorney at law; Fred the props man; and Swami Don, Guru.
Female characters are: Mariska Plentybucks, first ex-wife; Trixie Plentybucks; Virtuous Plentybucks, Mariska’s daughter and Rainbow, fiancee.
Either male or female characters: Will Done; police officer and extras of any age.
Howard hopes to have auditions in the Chase County Schools (CCS) auditorium as soon as possible. Anyone in high school on up can participate.
