2019 Cattlemen’s Ball planning gearing up

The 2019 Cattlemen’s Ball of Nebraska may be eight months away, but organizers know that planning for such a large event can’t be put off.
“In a way, it’s far away, but it’s not far away for the committee,” said Joey Large, treasurer for that organizing group.
Organizers are expecting as many as 3,500 to show up, which will be held June 7 and 8 near Wauneta.
The committee had planned to meet last week but did not have a quorum. That didn’t stop an informal discussion, though.
“What we’re basically doing is working on the tent layout for the site and looking at the contracting for our main entertainment on Saturday,” Large said.
Organizers don’t yet have a budget, but subcommittees are working on determining their needs and should have figures to the full committee in a couple of weeks, he said.
Fund raising “is starting to pick up. We’ve got some big contacts and we are getting some numbers starting to come in.”
No big donations have come in since last summer, but some bigger businesses have been contacted, Large said. “They said, ‘We’ll get back to you.’ I expect when we get to the first of November, there’ll be some increase in those types of commitments.”
In fact, the committee is looking for both donors and people interested in contacting them.
