With a total of nine participants this year the Wauneta-Palisade Schools cheerleading squad is the biggest it has been in years. During a two-day technique camp led by McCook High School Cheer Coach Teresa Erickson, the WP cheer squad had the opportunity to learn new lifts, cheers and dances.
Missy Blackman, WP cheer coach, says that she enjoyed seeing the girls learn new skills and bond in the hot, humid Palisade gym. Pictured, back row from left, is Matilda Malcolm, Destiny Beacham, Payton Yearous, Kenna Blackman and Michaela Dukes. Middle row, from left, is Jayden Ingold, Sarah Christensen, Alejandra Almanza and Jessica Ehm. In the front row are McCook cheerleaders, from left, Isabelle Paz, Celie Moore and Baily Wiese.

Wauneta-Palisade’s Dave Kuhlen and Greg Gaston took part in the Nebraska Coaches Association’s All-Star Basketball Game July 24 at Lincoln North Star High School.
Although the pair’s Blue team lost 70-75, Pam Gaston said the event was fun for Greg and his family. G. Gaston played with and against several former teammates from his select team days. Gaston scored eight points in the contest.
