WP track squad has 34 members, season slow to start

Between winter refusing to leave and a trip to the state basketball tournament, the track season is off to a slow start.
“The weather hasn’t been the best,” said Wauneta-Palisade Head Coach Dawn Doetker.
Which means practices have been inside, where the team has been doing a lot of  plyometrics and exercises as a group.
She added that coaches and athletes would like to be practicing outside which is easier on legs and shins.
Doetker said coaches are happy with the turnout for the girls’ team. Sixteen girls are out.
“This is really exciting, but we are going to be young.”
Coaches are also pleased with the number of boys who reported for the season, with 18 on the team. The group just started training this week after some time off following state basketball.
