WP splits games with Falcons, Roughriders

The Wauneta-Palisade boys’ basketball team still hasn’t found an answer for the Hitchcock County Falcons, but were able to add one to the win column with a win over Southwest.
WP took on the 7-3 Falcons Friday in Trenton. Much like the teams’ match-up in December, WP couldn’t buy a basket during the first quarter of the 18-64 loss. The Broncos finished the first half trailing 4-33 after baskets by Ben Anderjaska and Tucker Boos in the second quarter. Two three pointers by Anderjaska helped the Broncos to 12 third quarter points, but WP only tallied two free throws by Austen Rozelle in fourth quarter.
Anderjaska led WP with eight points.

Rough up Roughriders
WP rebounded Saturday with a 68-39 home win over 2-9 Southwest.
The Roughriders were content to slow the game down. The teams played nearly six minutes before the first stoppage of play with the score tied at 12. Rozelle battered Southwest throughout the first eight minutes, scoring 11 of WP’s 16 first quarter points.
