WP basketball falls to Mullen, traveling to Sidney for subdistricts

The Wauneta-Palisade boys’ basketball team couldn’t overcome a 22-point first half deficit in their regular season finale Friday against Mullen.
WP trailed 12-19 at the end of the first period. Braxton McKinney and Ty Duvel combined  to score the Broncos’ first 10 points, before Garrett Hanna scored.
After Duvel scored WP’s first points of the second quarter, Tucker Boos and Ben Anderjaska got in on the action, scoring the next nine points for WP. Duvel ended Bronco scoring in the first half with a basket. Unfortunately, Mullen’s offense was hitting on all cylinders and the visitors held a 23-40 lead at halftime.
WP Head Coach Rod Gaston said his team did a good job chipping away at the Mullen lead in the second half.
Boos and Anderjaska both hit third quarter three pointers. McKinney, Boos and Austen Rozelle each scored six points coming out of the locker room. WP cut the Mullen lead to 46-59.
