Circumstances continue to push back the opening of the season at Phillips County Raceway in Holyoke, but a solid opener has been put on the schedule for Friday and Saturday, April 28-29.
    Much-needed moisture delayed the originally planned opener March 25. Hoping to shift that to April 15, organizer Joe Bellm said they don’t want to compete with the crowd for the Community Fire Relief Benefit planned in Haxtun that evening.
    As a result, the season will open with a doubleheader Friday and Saturday, April 28 and 29. Two complete shows are planned, with action starting at 7 p.m. Friday and at 5 p.m. Saturday.
    Bellm was pleased to report that IMCA TV will be televising both days of racing.
