Midgets thrill at Phillips County Raceway

Midgets were the highlight of Friday, June 30, action at Phillips County Raceway. Nineteen racers in the Rocky Mountain Midget Racing Association made the trek to Holyoke to compete.
    After three heat races, RMMRA President Keith Rauch went on to win the feature event in car 27. His best lap time was 0:18.501.
    In the compacts division, Shalanda Smith, who drives car 1b, won yet another feature, her third consecutive win at PCR this season. Her best lap time was 0:22.795.
    The charismatic Brian Cross won the sport mods feature for a second time in a row at PCR. He clocked 0:20.378 as his best lap time.
    Top finishers in each division are listed in order of placing:
    RMMRA midgets — Keith Rauch, Zac Taylor, Troy Simpson, Luke Icke and Patrick Bourke.
    Modifieds — Greg Sharpe, Jeremy Frenlier, Jesse Taylor, Bill Brack and A.J. Valim.
    Sport mods — Brian Cross, Thomas Nelson Jr., Joe Bellm, Matt Firme and Ryan Moser.
