Michal Swanson will speak at ‘Frogmen’

Joggin’ for Frogmen is coming up and is still open for registration.
The 5K race and Tadpole Trot—for racers age six and under—will be next weekend,  May 25, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon.
The 5K race will start in the parking lot of the golf course in Campbell Park as in years past.
Registration for the 5K is now $35 and $10 for the Tadpole Trot.
Once registered, packets will be available for pickup at 509 Broadway.
Race coordinator Kelsey Owens said online registrations will be accepted until May 23. In-person registrations will be accepted at 509 Broadway until May 24.
“We will also accept registrations at the starting line, but it’s easier on the volunteers if they can register beforehand,” Owens said.

This year’s lineup
Michal Swanson, a 2004 CCS graduate and Army National Guard veteran, will be this year’s guest speaker.
Swanson was deployed to Iraq from 2010-2011.
He is married to Angela and they have two daughters.
Owens said there will be some “awesome raffle items” this year.
“Last year’s guest speaker, Eric Gonzales is doing some amazing wood flag signs with the Navy Seal trident on them,” she said. “The golf course is also donating a $250 gift certificate to raffle.”
5Star Metal donated all the special awards for the event.
“One thing people have requested is to start the race earlier because it’s been hot in the past,” Owens said. “We weren’t able to make that happen.”
Instead, local Boy Scouts will be on the course with water guns and water balloons to help cool down racers.
“If racers don’t want to get hit they just hold their hands up,” Owens said.
