Lady Broncos beat Southwest, Wallace; rematch with MHC Thursday

The Wauneta-Palisade volleyball team ran its record to 6-2 last week with wins over Southwest and Wallace.
The week started off with Southwest in town Tuesday, Sept. 17.
Though 2-7, the Roughriders hung with WP.
Serve receive was a struggle for both teams.
With WP leading 12-7, Southwest had two straight aces. Once WP got the sideout, Michaela Dukes had three aces to help the Broncos to a 16-9 lead.
Southwest battled back to 23-20 before a Haylee Sandman kill and Faith Lemon ace gave WP the set 25-20.
The Roughriders turned the tables on WP in the second set, a 20-25 WP loss.
Tied at 15, Southwest had two kills and an ace to take a five-point lead that the Broncos couldn’t overcome.
WP responded with a dominant win in the third set. Southwest had no answer to the Broncos’ serving. Dukes had three early aces and Destany Simpson two kills as WP jumped out to an 8-1 lead. H. Sandman served nine-straight points, including five aces, to give the Broncos an 18-3 lead. Alexa Sandman, Payton Yearous and Lemon added to the score with kills. WP won the set 25-11.
