Johnson-Brock beats Mullen Monday for D2 state football title

Mullen jumped out to a 20-8 first quarter lead in the Class D2 state title game, but was unable to hang on to the advantage.
    Johnson-Brock stormed back to hold a 22-20 advantage at halftime and win 56-26.
    Mullen, the top seed in the West bracket, beat 11th-seeded Lawrence-Nelson, the team that beat Wauneta-Palisade in the playoffs, 36-24 last week in the semifinals.
    Johnson-Brock was the second seed in the East bracket.
    Mullen running back Lane Edis had 117 yards on 12 carries, including three touchdowns, in the first quarter of the championship game.
    A 56-yard run and touchdown passes of 15 and 52 yards swung the game in Johnson-Brock’s favor. Johnson-Brock scored five-straight touchdowns to take control.
    Edis finished the game with 263 yards on 37 carries.
