JH basketball A teams finish seasons at Bronco Booster Tourney

Basketball season wrapped up for Wauneta-Palisade Junior High athletes Feb. 10 at the Bronco Booster Tourney.
Both the boys’ and girls’ A teams played 10 games. Each B team played six games.

Young girls’ team
“We were a fairly young team this year with not a lot of experience,” WP Head Girls’ Coach Terra Higgins said. “But the girls showed up for practice every day with the will to work hard to learn new skills and fundamentals.”
Higgins added, the group gave good effort throughout the season.
“The team as a whole always went 100 percent in games and practices,” Higgins said, adding “We need to continue to work on our fundamentals and knowledge of the game of basketball.”
The season’s best win, according to Higgins came against Wallace in the Hayes Center Tournament.
“The girls had lost to Wallace by four points earlier in the season and they were determined to come out on top this time,” Higgins said. “It was by far the best defensive game that I have seen the girls play all season!”
The Broncos’ game against Dundy County-Stratton stood out as well.
