Experience, leadership have Broncos heading in the right direction

With 15 returning letter-winners and more returning starters than there are positions, the Wauneta-Palisade football team looks prepared to start the 2018 season.
Seven seniors and eight juniors have set the tone for the team.
“The older kids have been setting a great example for the young kids, which started in the weight room this summer,” said Co-Head Coach Joseph Frecks. “From freshman to seniors we had an outstanding turnout and great effort in the weight room this summer.  That should pay off for these kids this season and as we move forward.”
Once the players hit the field the effort continued. Frecks said practice has been very upbeat and aggressive.
“We have some excellent leadership on this team and they are guiding the team in a great direction as we work through practice and come together as a team.”
Games will begin Friday when the Broncos host Hitchcock County.
“Everyone is very excited to be into game week as we start week three of practice, especially after last year when we had five weeks of practice before our first game,” Freck said.
WP will head to Benkelman in week two to take on Dundy County-Stratton.
